Overview
The TDOC System has been designed to be scalable. This was done to enable it to be operated in different configurations depending on the size (or scale) of the Job(s) it is being used to administer, and the needs of the people using it, as well as the infrastructure which is available to the organisation using it.

TDOC has also been designed to be portable, so that as a Job or Project progress's from concept though outline design to detailed design and construction through to operation (when it is used for facilities management), the information viz documents and database can be moved and accessed as needed.

In summary, this means that a user with some smaller Jobs on his laptop is not precluded from operating at the same time using a different configuration.

Single User

The user accesses the data which is kept on the users pc.

The TDOC software is the same as for Multi User.

Multi User

The users access the data which is stored on the server. Each user performs its record locking service, as well as sifting the data to be displayed. Thus it has heavy network traffic.

Supplied as default, TDOC is "Advantage aware" meaning that there is no need to upgrade the TDOC software in order to implement Client Server.

Multi User with Client Server Engine

Each user communicates with the Client Server, which manages the data (i.e. the file and record locking). The server returns only the data needed by the users, so reduces the network traffic substantially, and gives high data security.

Requires: Advantage Server.
